Causes
There are many causes for nausea, including the following:
- Chemotherapy (drugs used to treat cancer)
- Illness (e.g., stomach virus, gallbladder disease, food-borne illnesses)
- Motion sickness
- Nervous system disorders (e.g., vertigo, migraine)
- Pregnancy (e.g., morning sickness)
Nausea also can occur as a result of overeating; eating certain foods; and in response to unpleasant sights, smells, or mental images.
